Mick’s Background

Mick was born in Staffordshire, England in 1963. His father liked to shoot pheasants, so Mick was no stranger to shotguns. As a boy he would shoot pigeons as they flew over the lawn of the house where he grew up, he says that’s how he learned about lead. Mick shot local and regional shoots and worked at Doveridge and then Cloudside shooting grounds. In 1992 he shot 100 straight, the 5th person ever to do this in the U.K. By 1994 he was shooting for the England Team and that same year won the World English Sporting Clays Championship, at Sandringham, Norfolk.

In 1997 Mick moved to the US and worked from several different gun clubs giving lessons and clinics and shooting competitive sporting clays at the highest level. Mick has won many shoots and his travels have taken him around the world shooting at some fabulous locations. Over the years there have not been many events that he has not won,  those experiences and his determination and dedication to the sport have stood him in good stead.

In 2005 Mick and his family moved to Vero Beach and started a business that they ran until December 2018. Elite Shotguns acquired the business, know known as Vero Beach Clay Shooting Sports.
